Guide for Authors
The Journal of Clinical Lipidology is published to support the diverse array of medical professionals who work to reduce the incidence of morbidity and mortality from dyslipidemia and associated disorders of lipid metabolism.
Journal of Clinical Lipidology provides rapid online electronic and print publication of the most important current scientific developments in the field of lipids and lipidology. The Journal publishes both clinical and basic original, peer-reviewed articles devoted to diagnosis and treatment lipid disorders. Sections of the Journal address pioneering studies and the clinicians who conduct them, case studies, ethical standards and conduct, professional guidance such as ATP and NCEP, editorial commentary, letters from readers, National Lipid Association (NLA) news and upcoming event information, as well as abstracts from the NLA annual scientific sessions and the scientific forums held by its chapters, when appropriate.
Manuscript Categories
Original ArticlesOriginal articles generally should range between 2000 and 6000 words, and include no more than 40 references. Abstract, article structure, and optional supplementary (online only) material are described under Preparation requirements below.
Case Studies Case studies are limited to 4 authors, 8 double-spaced pages total, including text, references (no more than 20), figure legends, and 3 figures. Abstract (up to 160 words) is optional; see Preparation requirements below.
Reviews Contemporary and Historical Reviews (Solicited and Unsolicited). Review articles should contain a brief abstract (see Preparation requirements below) and generally should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures. References should be limited to 45.
Editorial Commentaries All editorials by invitation only. Commentaries should be confined to articles in the current issue or a very specific topic that is current and of high interest to the readership.
Brief CommunicationsBrief communications may reflect new concise findings of high value, clinical implementation science, or illustrative cases with concise review. They should not exceed 2000 words, including text, tables, figure legends, and up to 20 references. Total number of tables and figures is limited to 3. An unstructured abstract should be included, up to 160 words.
Letters to the EditorLetters should be double-spaced, not exceeding 450 words. No abstract. Letters will be reviewed and are subject to editing. If accepted for publication, a copy of the letter will be sent to the author(s) of the original article, if applicable. The author(s) will have an opportunity to respond with new material that will be considered for publication with the letter.
News and Statements from the NLA News and Statements from the NLA are only for the National Lipid Association (NLA) to provide content: NLA news and upcoming event information, as well as abstracts from the NLA Annual Scientific Sessions, scientific and consensus statements, and scientific forums held by chapters, when appropriate.
