Scope of the Journal
The Chinese Journal of Comparative Law (CJCL) is an independent, peer-reviewed, general comparative law journal published under the auspices of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL) and in association with the Silk Road Institute for International and Comparative Law (SRIICL) at Xi’an Jiaotong University, PR China.
CJCL aims to provide a leading international forum for comparative studies on all disciplines of law, including cross-disciplinary legal studies. It gives preference to articles addressing issues of fundamental and lasting importance in the field of comparative law.
Publication ethics
Authors should observe high standards with respect to publication ethics as set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Falsification or fabrication of data, plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the authors’ own work without proper citation, and misappropriation of the work are all unacceptable practices. Any cases of ethical misconduct are treated very seriously and will be dealt with in accordance with the COPE guidelines.
Originality
By submitting your manuscript to the journal it is understood that this is an original manuscript, is unpublished work and is not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the author’s own work in whole or in part without proper citation, is not tolerated by the journal. Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be checked for originality using anti-plagiarism software.
Conflicts of interest
If any of the Editors/Peer-reviewers feel that there is likely a perception of a conflict of interest in relation to their handling of a submission for review, for example if the author of the submission is at the same institution as the Editors/Peer-reviewers, they will declare it to the other Editors/Peer-reviewers, and the submission for review will be handled by one of the other Editors/Peer-reviewers.
As part of the submission process, corresponding authors are required to confirm whether they or their co-authors have any conflicts of interest to declare, and to provide details of these if they have any.
If the manuscript is published, and conflict of interest information is provided, this information will be communicated in a statement in the published paper.
Peer review process
This journal operates single-anonymised peer review, meaning that the Authors identity is known to the Editor and to the Reviewers, but that the Reviewers’ identities are known only to the Editor and are hidden from the Authors. For full details about the peer review process, see Fair editing and peer review.
All submissions to the journal are initially reviewed by one of the Editors. At this stage manuscripts may be rejected without peer review if it is felt that they are not of high enough quality or not relevant to the journal.
Manuscripts that are not initially rejected are sent out for peer review, usually to two independent reviewers. Based on the feedback from these reviewers and the Editors’ judgment a decision is given on the manuscript.
